Knight Monsters Announce 2026-27 Leadership Group

STATELINE, NV – The Tahoe Knight Monsters, proud ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights and the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights, announced their leadership group for the 2026-27 season.

Third-year Knight Monsters forward Jake McGrew has been named as the second captain in franchise history, with second-year Tahoe forward Jett Jones and veteran defenseman Bobby Russell being named the two alternate captains.

McGrew, 27, comes off a season last year in which he appeared in 62 games for the Knight Monsters and put up 22 goals, his highest total in a season as a professional. Over the course of the first two seasons, the Orange, California native has appeared in 132 games for Tahoe, totaling 78 points (41g-37a). McGrew served as an alternate captain in last season’s leadership group for the Knight Monsters.

Jones, 24, enters his second season with the Knight Monsters after spending last year with the Kelly Cup Champion Florida Everblades. In the Knight Monsters’ inaugural season, Jones put up 22 goals, which ranked third on the team during the 2024-25 season. The Olds, Alberta native has appeared in 148 career ECHL games for Tahoe, Florida, and Savannah, as well as 54 AHL games for Henderson and Springfield.

Russell, 26, joins the Knight Monsters after spending last season primarily with the Rapid City Rush. A native of Langley, British Columbia, Russell has skated in 263 ECHL games with Greenville, Toledo, and Rapid City, as well as 10 AHL games with Ontario and Charlotte.

The Knight Monsters open the 2026-27 season at home on Friday, October 23, as they take on the New Mexico Goatheads at Tahoe Blue Event Center.
