STATELINE, NV – The Tahoe Knight Monsters, proud ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights and the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights, fell at home to the Kansas City Mavericks by a score of 4-1.
Both teams entered the second period scoreless after highlight-reel saves from Tahoe’s Jordan Papirny and Kansas City’s Logan Terness, but the Mavericks struck first on a power-play goal from Alex Swetlikoff to lead 1-0. It took just under four minutes for Tahoe to answer back on the power play as the captain, Jake McGrew, scored his third of the season to tie the game at 1. In the back half of the middle period, Ryan Lautenbach scored Kansas City’s second man-advantage goal of the game, and Kansas City took a 2-1 lead into the third.
In the third, it was all Mavericks as Justin Janicke and Gianfranco Cassaro both scored in the final 20 minutes to give Kansas City a 4-1 victory and even up the series.
The two teams will face off in a rubber match as the Knight Monsters celebrate Halloween with specialty jerseys tomorrow at 3 pm PT.
