STATELINE, NV – The Tahoe Powder Hounds, proud ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights and the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights, fell to the Cincinnati Cyclones in overtime by a score of 4-3.
In the first period, the Powder Hounds got on the board first as Jake McGrew scored his 21st goal of the season off a clean faceoff win from Mike O’Leary to make it 1-0. However, before the end of the frame, Luke Grainger would tie the game on a top-corner snipe to make it 1-1 headed into the second.
In the second, Cincinnati opened up the scoring with a power play goal from Gunnarwolfe Fontaine, and added on with a goal from Liam Kidney to make it 3-1 Cyclones. In the final 95 seconds of the frame, Kevin Wall showed off the stick handles as he worked around multiple Cincinnati defenders to bury his 19th goal of the year to make it 3-2 Cincinnati at the end of 40 minutes.
In the final frame, Samuel Huo got on the board for the Powder Hounds with his first career professional goal to tie the game at 3. After both goaltenders pitched shutouts the rest of the way, the game went into overtime.
In OT, Cincinnati picked up the extra point as Sam Stevens scored the winning goal to give the Cyclones a 4-3 victory.
