STATELINE, NV – The Tahoe Knight Monsters, proud ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights and the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights, announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Mike Van Unen from the Indy Fuel to complete a future considerations trade.
Van Unen joins the Knight Monsters after posting one goal and two assists in 10 games with Indy this season. The Kamloops, British Columbia, native also appeared in four games for the Rapid City Rush this season.
Van Unen has over a season of prior ECHL experience, as he appeared in 42 games with the Allen Americans last season, and in 11 games for the Adirondack Thunder at the end of the 2023-24 season upon completing his collegiate career at Northern Michigan University.
Van Unen made his Knight Monsters debut in last night’s contest against the Bloomington Bison.
This move completes a future considerations trade from November when the Knight Monsters traded forward Cody Laskosky to the Fuel.
The Knight Monsters return home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, to take on the Utah Grizzlies at Tahoe Blue Event Center. Puck drop is at 7:00 pm, with pregame coverage on the Knight Monsters broadcast network beginning at 6:50 pm. Ticket packages for the 2025-26 season are now available.
