STATELINE, NV – The Tahoe Knight Monsters, proud ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights and the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights announced today that the team has signed forward and 2017 San Jose Sharks sixth round pick Jake McGrew.
McGrew, 24, comes to Tahoe after two seasons playing abroad in HockeyAllsvenskan in Sweden. As a member of AIK IK and Vasterviks IK from 2022-2024, he totaled 22 points (8g, 12a) in 61 games.
Before that, he spent two seasons in professional hockey in the US, splitting time between the ECHL and the AHL. In the 2020-21 season, he played 27 games with the San Jose Barracuda (AHL) and scored seven points (4g, 3a). He also played 11 games with the Allen Americans (ECHL) and tallied six goals and two helpers.
McGrew played almost a full year with San Jose in the 2021-22 season, scoring 12 goals and tacking on 11 assists in 57 games. He also scored twice in four playoff games, including a goal against the Henderson Silver Knights. He chipped in three games with the Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL) as well, totaling six points (3g, 3a).
At the ECHL level, McGrew is a point per game player, with 14 total points (9g, 5a) in 14 games between Allen and Orlando.
